The heart of the ThermalStar system is an
Infrared camera. The trained Thermographer can perform a
non-destructive inspection of the insulation inside walls, ceilings
and floors.
This inspection frequently identifies areas of missing or
improperly installed insulation. An Infrared Camera can also find
hidden
water leaks, air gaps and electrical hot spots.
The
Infrared camera allows you to show the customer (home or building
/ owner or tenant) exactly what you are seeing.
The photo at right shows missing insulation in a Master Bedroom wall. The upper areas of 3 adjacent stud cavities are completely empty of insulation! The heat or air conditioning this homeowner is paying for is going right through this wall area.

ThermalStar® Blower Door
The ThermalStar - Blower Door is the next part of the
system. The Blower Door consists of a light weight aluminum
expanding frame, heavy duty fabric cover (fitted bed
sheet style), a powerful fan with a variable speed controller
and carrying cases.
The Blower Door allows the trained ThermalStar energy
inspector to verify the integrity of the air barrier
of a building envelope. The Blower Door allows for controlled
depressurizing of the building showing up air leaks around
windows, doors, penetrations, trim and anywhere else.
This also helps determine Indoor Air Quality issues.
This Infrared image (above left) shows air leaking around an exterior door frame. Air leaks like this can add up to serious energy loss and yet once known, theyare easy to seal.
